I’m just really genuinely curious as to what exactly feminists of colour would like to see white women do.

I’d like to see white feminists examine whether or not you show up for other issues related to women/people of color. If not, why? If attending a BLM march or event isn’t your thing, that’s cool. But, do you rant over news of about infringement of reproductive rights but stay silent when a WOC or black man is killed

I’d suggest that white feminists quit using the phrase “I don’t see color/ethnicity.” That would be a good start. I hate when I hear/read people saying that. Culture and skin color is really important to most of us non-white people. In many ways, it shapes us. Acknowledging that we’re all different is okay.

Daniel Dale, one of the Canadian journalists who covered Rob Ford’s debacle, says that being booted out of press conferences for “attacking” a politician (ie reporting unflattering facts) is not necessarily a bad thing because it forces a journalist to go after contacts for stories. This is where the real meat lies -

I would love it if Jez kept a running stream of bills currently looking for approval, so we could all call together daily about the same subject.

Tangentially related but how cute is Ian mckellen’s sign for the women’s march?

It’s absolutely immoral to stand by and celebrate the destruction of our country, through the endangerment of religious minorities and transgender folks, the abuse and degradation of women, blatant racism, the dismantling of programs meant to keep our fellow citizens alive and well, and blatant treason. There is

Since Jane who very much is an ignorant slut dismissed my comment, I’ll repost it here:

I agree that it’s not an immoral act. I also would state that the inauguration can happen without fanfare or even an audience. It’s perfectly acceptable for him to be sworn in at ceremony at the white house quickly and quietly for there to be a “peaceful transition of power.” So, there’s no real obligation to attend

They are all over-arching their lower back and serving their butts like cats about to be mounted. That’s “#mammalian lordosis” not “#bootyfordays.”

This show sounds about as interesting as listening to my co-workers endlessly discussing crossfit and marathons while eating tuna straight out of the can at lunch.

They have lists of recommendations on the cloth diaper sites, I admit I haven’t thought that far ahead!

I feel like it is panic inducing for all involved. People staring and judging me in a tight white dress. I couldn’t go through that more than once. Idk I hate being center of attention.

Gravitas

I think most white people would listen to a well spoken black man wearing a suit and tie and take his ideas seriously (Obama).

Clover,

I am really sorry that you will have your (and your colleagues, I assume) work cut out for you keeping the comments section for this article clean.

Baldwin is not revered or remembered as much as he should be in the gay community. This guy was a groundbreaking hero.

There’s something mesmerizing about his combination of righteous anger, intellectual precision, and unflappable self-respect. He was of his time, but also ahead of his time, because nobody answered the questions he raised, and still haven’t.

I saw this at an early screening in LA, and it was great and just what I need post election. The thing that i really loved about the movie, was that it explored his guilt/conflict of being an observer vs an active protester, which is something i struggle with all the time as a creative. What is more important

Married to a Swede (close enough) and this is accurate.
