This piece made me think about an RPG-themed chat server (with actual freeform roleplaying) I used to frequent waaaaaay back in the 90's. There were the passerbys, as ever, but there was a tight group of regulars that gave the server life for around 4-5 years.

Life.. Will, catch up

Thank you for all of this; in retrospect, it really explains why I remember loving seasons 1 and 2... and then tapping out after the Cadence plotline, for no real articulable reason other than, "it just doesn't feel the same."

I was also on the Ebon Hawk and believe me, the merger was a good thing. The population was getting too thin before. There’s still a thriving RP scene here, but it’s usually found on the Imperial Fleet in the cantina or inside private strongholds. There are parties all the time and plenty of fun to be had if you know

WoW is the same way for me. I played basically every day from Wrath of the Lich King launch and quit playing on the release of Mists of Pandaria. More than anything i just loved hanging out with my guild mates. I’d be logged on from when i got home from school until i went to sleep, essentially using the game as a

Thank you for sharing this. This... is very much how I feel about FFXIV, these days. Mind you, that game is still incredibly active; my server’s listed as “congested” more often or not. Between being so behind in the game and RPers everywhere, there’s no shortage of things to do. But most of the friendships I’ve made

Thanks for writing this.

Great article. I played SWTOR since launch. I joined a pre-launch guild even called Jen’jidai (Forget how it was spelled now). When the game launched it was such a fun experience with everyone. We would debate story and choices. Do flashpoint, PvP and raid during the elder game. We used do to cantinas nights and many

I am glad to hear of stories like this, even with bittersweet ends. I never connected with people on SWTOR the way I did WoW, but I always had hope for what it could accomplish. Excellent article.

Bronies aren’t a uniform entity. Back when the “new pony” you’re referring to was in the show, the vast majority of people in the fandom were explicitly against making anything NSFW with them. I’m sure some random people didn’t care and did it, anyway, but they definitely don’t represent the fandom as a whole.

Your experience with TOR is exactly what my experience was with SWG. I met a lot of friends, tons of in-game experiences, and had a time I’ll never forget. We had the famous server people as well, and a lot of player-driven content. I called in sick to work so I could tame my first rancor. Man was I into that game.

I will openly admit that this article was perhaps the first time I saw the parts of the writer Heather is and can be (it may be back handed, but this is a compliment).

People have been making this same joke for the past eight years anytime literally anything pony related gets reported.

Seriously. Bunch of fucking weirdos they are.

They are called adults who have an interest. Let people enjoy the things they like and go about your business.

The first instance actually leads to a well reasoned monologue that describes the uselessness of torture-its not a stretch to call it making a case against torture.

As Kotaku’s “connoisseur of Japanese smut games” Mike Fahey once put it, “characters fall into the uncomfortably young category, but rest assured they are whatever age they need to be to ensure publisher NIS America doesn’t get arrested.”

Every time I see a screenshot of this game or a stream of this game, I see that big fucking list of TODO objectives in the top right just screaming text across a huge portion of the screen and I feel sick to my stomach. Bethesda needs to fire its UI designers.

It’s really weird that you keep calling one of the three main quest lines “main quest” and the other ones “side quest”, even calling out how these “side quests” aren’t even “main quests”. No. They aren’t. That’s why the game quite clearly shows you your three separate main quest lines - Family, Cultists & First Civ -

This is what I hate about Tumblr. So many of them are so far up their own asses that they don’t give a shit about other people’s opinions or the experiences that might be behind them. By posting this, you have denied MarionN’s feelings and opinions on the issue as an LGBT person who has had “queer” thrown at them as a
