In the 89 Tour de France just before the famous final time trial stage, Greg Lemond’s aero bars were slipping. His mechanic quickly fashioned some shims from a coke can. You see some of the red painted aluminum peeking out by the clamps.

My driver side wiper blade broke off in the parking lot just after a day of skiing at Kirkwood. A 2.5 hour drive home, in a soggy snow/rainstorm. I managed to tie it back on with some shoelaces. Despite near constant use it stayed tight until about 20mins from home and I had to retie it.

The european economies were shattered after the war and owning a car was a big deal for anyone until the early ‘60s.  People wanted something cheap and an expensive redesign was out of the question.

I used to travel/go out to lunch a lot with my old job and it seemed like my black co-workers were the least adventurous eaters.

I have seen a LOT of contractors, electricians, plumbers ect use dodge minivans as work vehicles.  Just the front seats are present, and the interior is usually mess.  I don’t know if they buy them second hand or its the old family mover.  You can cram a lot of stuff into am empty minivan and they can carry quite a
