If the computer thinks its going normally in 2wd then it doesn't know the rear wheels are stationary ? no. any awd system should have speed sensors on all wheels.

Save up, invest, buy a used basic car, cash. Keep saving, investing, then when the old car is no longer worth fixing, buy new bare bones car, cash. Keep saving ect. Drive new car until its shot, get your moneys worth out of it. A base camry, accord will last a family 10 years. Anything more than a basic car IS A

Put some fuel in the freezer, re-freeze it. Tow it to some serious middle of nowhere, bomb it, rope off the area. Let nature take its course, pick the scrap in 3 years.
