Meh. Some cities have private ambulance corps and some have state or city run corps. There’s a huge difference.
Less than call center money, depending on who you were working for and any extra skills you had you could get 20 an hour or more at call centers here in NC.
And, when other healthcare workers, cops, etc. have a problem they can’t solve (i.e. person they can’t or don’t want to deal with), they call EMS to relocate their problem to the nearest ER. All while collecting salaries significantly higher and with better working conditions than the crew on the Ambulance. One of my…
The only thing worse that for-profit services are for-profit services subsidized by the government.
Contracting for-profit companies isn’t nearly as big of a problem as the patient still being mostly responsible for the costs. If the locality still paid the costs, that’d be fine.
And as was mentioned above, as long as EMS is treated like some non-covered medical step-child, we’re always going to have a massive medical transport and out-of-facility medical emergency services problem.
Owners of EMS companies- there’s your problem right there.
Nothing is going to change until they simply start offering EMS employees more pay. Much like teachers these industries have predated on the staff by manipulating and leveraging the goodwill these people have to offset the lack of money. They have been pushed to far now because what is being offered isn’t remotely…
I was going to comment this, but I’ve been greyed out.
Mythbusters did a thing on this - (well it was for gas mileage) but the point remains, that the bed causes a little loop of slower moving air- and the fast air rides over the top of it. So the bed of the truck doesnt get much turbulence.
Always been surprised with the Mirage’s various palettes. For a bottom-of-the-barrel cheap-ass line, they went surprisingly bold with the choices in ‘14.
I like the Spirited Green on the Mazda2 (the Fiesta’s platform cousin) a little more, but likewise, that wasn’t an option when I bought mine (they’d dropped it by 2014). I settled for spray-bombing the wheel covers lime green.
Kia Stinger in “Ceramic Silver” - Reminds me of Porsche’s “Chalk” color.
The MK7 Fiesta came in a color called Lime Squeeze. I actually bought a Fiesta in 2011 and really wanted that color in a hatchback, but couldn’t find it. Had to settle for Ingot Silver.
Ebikes are great in a city grid since you can usually get around a city as fast as a car and use bike lanes, e-motos are great when there’s highways or multilane surface roads on your route.
OK, paid the $73 deposit. It’s refundable, what the heck.
If you have to ask...
This looks cool but if youre looking for true urban transportation it’d be cheaper to buy an ebike with really no effective loss of functionality if youre using it in a city.
WOOOOOOOW.
