Of all the Internet memes out there, Sonichu is the one that legitimately creeps me out. Not because of the subject, but because if you step back and actually look at it, it’s just a bunch of people coordinating to obsessively, go-through-the-trash-level stalk a person.

I thought it was pretty solidly awful, and weird in a bad way. Mostly it just couldn’t bear to *own* its silly concept, and tried to have it both ways between self-serious fantasy film and buddy cop movie.

“Maybe we should’ve done that Raymond Carver play?”

Easily my favourite mashup in terms of tonal dissonance:

Hey, the man was only accidentally in Dune! Cut him some slack!

What better way to spend a Monday night?

Ah, yes, quite so.

See, I don’t think I’ve ever been *more* attracted to her...

Ugh, I’ve watched all three of those awful movies *at least* once. They’re not so-bad-it’s-good enough to warrant any amount of rewatching, yet here I stand. Fun fact: Any drinking game involving trains will kill your ass before the first reel ends.

Goddamnit that got a snort out of me. Stars to you.

I was so convinced the Rose = Pink thing was a red herring. It was earth all along!

I rewatched it recently for a podcast I do. It’s actually a miniseries, so it’s nearly three hours long and nigh unwatchable. I was physically ill with boredom by the end.

Oh man, talk about nostalgia. I watched this when I was a kid and it always kinda stuck with me. I should rewatch and see if it holds up.

For me, I’d heard mildly positive things about RP1, but it didn’t really sound like my cup of tea so I didn’t check it out. I’m pretty nerdy, so it was less a demographic thing and more a “I don’t really dig YA novels” thing. THEN that awful, awful list started making the rounds, and I kinda had to know what this

That might be the most Canadian thing Norm’s ever done, and he’s pretty damn Canadian.

I remember reading that they came up with it because microwaving their instant burritos was a *horrible time sink* keeping them away from their precious code (or something like that).

For that matter, “politically correct” was a term left-wing lesbians made up to mock Stalinists. The right doesn’t even have that.

Ruth Bader believe it!

It amuses me to no fixed end that a couple of trans women came up with red pill, and a gay man coined (effectively) “snowflake”, specifically to mock the kind of straight dudebros who now use it as a catchphrase.

A friend of mine and I—both Shadowrun fans—watched Bright tonight because of the obvious Shadowrun parallel, and also because it looked terrible and therefore good for a life. There’s a surprising amount of the SR aesthetic, even beyond the fantasy in modern times thing. Not cyberpunk by any means, but there were a
