Anyone out there hit up Podcon this weekend? Speaking of end of year rad podcast things. Got to see the McElroys live, and it was hands down one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen in my life.
It’s bizarre. There’s absolutely *no* one clamoring for him to be in movies. It’s like Hollywood is supplying for a demand that literally does not exist.
As much as I’m ambivalent to sequels and trilogies, I think Dune (the first book) could work as two movies. I’ve always felt that the first half or so is Jessica’s story; the second is Paul’s, despite the climax being oddly abrupt for a sci-fi door stopper.
I like the miniseries okay, but it’s too faithful to the book in some ways, and it’s dated in a way the Lynch version hasn’t. Lynch’s is ugly and ridiculous—and I honestly kinda hate it—but it’s timeless, at least for certain definitions of “timeless”...
My go to example.
Who else would watch Stanley Kubrick’s Barry Allen?
“Nautical Disaster” always gets me. ;_;
I seem to remember that you can hear faint audio of him giving himself up after being hit, but it’s been a long time since I checked...
Tim Minchin really dodged a bullet on this one.
