Currently the cars use sidewall for the majority of suspension travel. With far less sidewall suspension tuning mistakes will be far more significant and might help to balance power a bit. Also its hard to sell tires from a series sponsorship when the ones you buy look nothing like what is being raced...

Can confirm. I had a 91 vert for ten years. I learned to only park on flat surfaces or else one of the doors was not going to open. The car was fun though. If someone buys this I still have a spare convertible frame so whatever top parts it needs I have. Good luck finding one anywhere else.
