I don’t think so. The Lego games are in some sort of weird IP vortex that allows them be made independent of who holds the rights to certain titles. I was STUNNED to see more Marvel content coming in Lego games given the Warner Bros. logo. Anyone have an explanation?

Would purchase immediately if sticker was sold in stores.

So good...

Agreed. It hits the same sweet spot as Shovel Knight, but lacks the charm. The design and play mechanic are good... I do think there will be opportunity with a sequel.

This is the most insightful thing I’ve read today. Sadly, I was never able to crystallize it so clearly. The moment human agency is reduced to “wiring,” the person functionally becomes an object. The valuation of people is problematic... if the human becomes an object, moral culpability is removed from oppression.

“Why isn’t there a white history month?”

Luke as young Jedi... irritating and frequently embarrassing to watch.

The old school sexist professor who says “sleep with me and I’ll give you an A” is evil and remains far more widespread than he ought to be. That said, I think the greatest and most pernicious new danger we face is the evolutionary psychology/biology bullshit young academic. The men who grew up weened on the internet

The quality and wearability of any item bought from Hot Topic is ultimately the item’s downfall (regardless of how well conceived the product is).

Which should give them a reality show together which would be unarguably cooler than anything happening at the Oscars this year.

Star Wars was loved by audiences and received praise from critics. Two male leads are men of color. It wouldn’t have been a monumental moment for civil rights or anything for it to be nominated, but it would have been exceptionally easy cover for the Academy to hold up. Maybe they’re both dumb and out of touch?

Fathers taking care of their kids also receive disproportionately more praise than mothers.

What’s the old saying about trying to argue with the willfully ignorant? “Like giving medicine to the dead.” Doubly relevant here.

I don’t see these as token or affirmative action suggestions. These were good movies. Maybe not high art or anything. But when one considers that movies like “Crash” and “Avatar” were big winners, I don’t think they’d sully the Academy’s reputation (which is hardly pristine).

The Baseball Hall of Fame voters are equally insular and moronic (and maybe, kinda, sorta racist). Last year, Deadspin bought the vote of a member of the nominating committee. I would LOVE to see Gawker media do that for an Academy voter. It’s time to obliterate these nasty old institutions of taste making.

What’s especially frustrating is that they had SO MANY EASY OPTIONS to make the nominees more diverse. Hell, “Creed” and “Star Wars” were huge crowd pleasers, loved by critics, with numerous leading roles with POC. It would have both increased the diversity of the films and performances nominated AND made the Oscars

Big if true.

So true... the wildcard is the Supreme Court. We need probably 1-2 more terms with a Democratic president and many of the social changes that they’ve enacted will have become codified. Disruption could really hurt positive gains made for a number of communities at the judicial level. Hillary is a safer bet and that

Seriously just asking... what can stop this? As long as at least one municipality is willing to do this horseshit, teams will still have all the leverage they need extract money from their current market. We could make public stadium financing illegal... but this sounds eerily similar to attempts to control the amount
