I normally just assume that the comments section of a site is 80% garbage (looking at you, Daily Mail, oh lawd) so I usually can’t be bothered to care enough. But I think there are a lot of important discussions being had on Jezebel and too many conversations are derailed by trolls.

Some of my Scottish friends say they’ve had more anti-Scottish abuse at the Guardian than the Daily Mail, which is an epic fail on behalf of the Guardian there.

The comments on anything woman or race related are guaranteed to be a dumpster fire. Its amazing how out of whack the editorial stance and the readership are.

It’s odd how the most benign of articles can still drum up the vilest of comments really rapidly.

The Guardian comments can be surprisingly vile ... not funny vile, like here, or cutting, just really really awful, like clever people with no sense of humor who only know how to be shitty.
