A guy I know who is now a major Trump supporter literally cried in fear that his kids would be indoctrinated when Barack Obama gave his yearly back to school address to the nation’s schoolchildren. Those were his words: “I’m afraid.” If you think for a second that the party that made a scandal out of a tan suit and Read more

That’s the thing though, isn’t it? Obama wouldn’t have redesigned it. Trump understands symbolism only in it’s most obvious forms. He does recognize that things can represent other things, that a plane can represent the United States — but only in the most literal way possible: it has to be red, white, and blue. It Read more

True, but most of us aren’t using sports cars to their full potential anyway. Sure, on a quarter-mile or 0-60 run the auto will outperform a person, but the fun shouldn’t be discounted and is, for most people, the primary reason why they would ever get a manual.

Preferences are personal of course, but hard disagree on that. The Volvo is much more refined looking, it’s understated but still moderately aggressive. The Benz is attractive to people who already like their design language but I just don’t see it.

I mean, none of those things apply to me and I hate big stupid SUV’s.

I had this very float yesterday at Magic Kingdom. It was quite good, though the weather was too cold to really enjoy it.

Then you’re just getting into tragedy of the commons scenarios. Of course individuals would rather drive, and would rather others didn’t do so. Those individuals wouldn’t be taking into account the larger concerns -- infrastructure, pollution, resource management. They’d be thinking of their own convenience, which is Read more

I love cars, but if I woke up tomorrow and they -- along with the problems associated with them -- were gone, I would remember them fondly but be glad they weren’t needed. I’m sure there were people who loved their horses like a member of their own family, but we today don’t have that experience and so we don’t miss Read more

I like to think those herb fuckers see their flat-ass traffic charts spike, and then their faces light up because someone accidently visited Deadspin, perhaps out of vestigial habit, but fall just as quickly when they see it’s a link from Drew’s Twitter. Those clicks are but a shadow of Christmas past, whose time will Read more

I’m looking at a couple of used cars, which a a new experience for me. I’ve only ever bought new, or from people I know, or a couple of classics (a different animal). When looking at a car either at a dealership or a private party, what’s the general procedure for inspections? Will most mechanics (places like Meineke Read more
