Fair points. I mentor a 16yo girl through BBBS who has no father in her life and her mother is not much of a parental figure. She has issues with authority also and often winds up in trouble at school. Without consequences at home or caring about being “in trouble” at school, there is little to motivate her to follow…

kids need to be taught to respect authority. Kids need to be taught to follow rules. This girl was taken away from her mom, I’m guessing she didn’t have anyone who taught her these things.

I agree with your article, well done, but the other fact that is often left unmentioned is that this poor girl lost her mother AND her grandmother in the last year, and is now in the foster system.

The first time I saw this, I was shocked at how she flew across the floor. On the second viewing, I got really sad at the lack of reaction from the other students. They’ve seen this shit before.
