I do appreciate the artistry of the expression here, although it certainly leaves me with the sense that Eminem and I do not share a viewpoint on the cause, blame, and repercussions of domestic abuse.

I'm 26 and something I've learned lately is that beyond all women not being the exact same sexually — kitty cats, yes! actual electrical fences, definitely! giant bicycle pumps of love, of course! — every couple is different, too. I have had a range of libido and practices and it's totally had to do with life…
Lily Allen is such a cutie. Reading interviews where she discusses her life plans and the need to have children "to make her feel grounded" keep striking me as a US/UK cultural difference. I'm curious as to whether I'm right and career-minded UK girls feel more pressure to family it up earlier than we do in the US.
I think it's naive to expect someone heavily involved in anti-aging cosmetics would not have cosmetic surgery. Cosmetic surgery is an option, so are anti-aging serums. He isn't shilling edamame or granola, Sephora ladies, he's shilling a superficial beauty treatment.
.gif please!
@luxamnesiac: Yeah I wasn't trolling MIRC for gay men. But it was what made the Internet fun for me in 97 for sure. That and icq.
@hughman: mirc!
@kungfutoday: For me the credit at O Magazine just seemed such a no-brainer — what other publication could prepare her better? There are (unfortunately) so few mainstream fashion publications aimed at women of color that there are very few lateral movements that could be made. Publishing is a tough, competitive…
@StephanieBoland: I see it as reporting on sociological topics, which I think you can be trained to do. Do you think only Cherokee Indians can tell the story of Cherokee suffering? Lots of books have been written on it; very few by the actual sufferers. It's sad that there isn't more first-hand evidence, but if the…
@samethingwedoeverynightpinky: It's my opinion that it wouldn't matter. Yeah, people would bitch and moan, but having a vagina doesn't (in my opinion) alter one's brain. I believe there is a man out there that could run Jezebel very well. I believe a black or white or Tahitian man or woman could direct fashion at…
@StephanieBoland: I know, I know. It's a tough argument. But I feel like pragmatism has to be used over emotions — it makes me sad for a black woman not to hold the post, but I think it's fair that the post be decided based on merit, not race. I don't think there is a decision in the world I'd make based on race,…
Shockingly, white people are allowed to do all types of things these days! White people can major in African American Studies at NYU. White people like David Hauslaib can start entire blogs aimed at black audiences. Ellianna seems qualified for the position, why should her race matter?
@Valerie_Cherish: Haha was just about to say that....
Oh man I thought I was reading the Ramona Beezus thread for a second and I was like damn, this is a lot of in-depth focus on Ramona's sexuality here, this film is probs despicable!
Here's hoping you made bank off this, Beverly Cleary. God knows you deserve a payout after the millions of kids who had the Ramona stories filtered into their minds to help them through stressful times.
Wow. As someone who wrote a 150-page thesis circling around Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome and the social issues in defining gender, this is sad, but also fascinating. Glad the lens of some media outlets are on it.
@jewess: No!
Thank God. You guys have no idea how much this story upset me. The details about how scared the donkey was were so chilling. Someone had to post pics of kittens to make me stop making sad faces.
@caffeinequeen: Hahah ohhh thank you.
This makes me enormously sad. I wish I hadn't read it. I hope someone posts something happy soon. :/
