I agree with a lot of the commentors that this is tasteful, and certainly artistic if not "fashionable" in what strikes me as an East Coast (or at the very least, American) sense. Sexy women can carry more weight than (most) runway models, and they can have pubic hair. It's not degrading, it's celebratory!

Also Sandra Bullock's sister's bakery in Vermont closed over a year ago and they moved to Texas.

I've been practicing falling off my Wii all afternoon near pictures of Jared Leto circa 1998. Nothing.

I agree it's shocking news that Erica Jong and Oprah do not share the same thoughts on privacy. NDAs vs. the zipless fuck really might be the ultimate modern-day information-0ff.

@morninggloria: Dunno, something about this dress just sort of says "Always with wings" to me. But I've never been down with the horseback riding/yoga in white pants/risky lifestyles associated with Tampons.

@Kitty Conner: Oh my god I completely missed my own Avatar Irony. The shame!!!!

Meryl, you are my favorite. And don't worry, one day when I become spiritual leader of the entire Western Civilization, I will see to it personally that you get all the Oscars. Every time.

Wow, guys. I am definitely getting this dress and then right away wearing it to my Napa Valley Wine tour and probably a ketchup factory. On my period. Wish me luck!!!!1!!1!!

For some reason my Yahoo mail told me yesterday she only took home $2,000 last year. So maybe she works in hopes of the money!

@Penny: I like her little alphabetized book of classic pieces. It's charming and doesn't ever get into sizes or shapes, just awesome clothes and their cultural meanings (black dresses like Breafast at Tiffany's, the evolution of aviators, etc)

@cowboy killer: Awesome! I want to start a fashion revolution movement about celebrating yourself WITH clothes. Every time some ad agency tries to get me to celebrate womanness with nudity it gives me a little pause. I can be joyful about my belly when it's swathed in stretchy colorful stuff that makes me smile :)

I like the person on Jez the other day who suggested we start dressing to accentuate our differences, not to disguise them. I have had her quote in my head all week about trying to emphasize your apple-y shape.

@the.bleach: I mean, either old or completely desensitized toward stupidity, but I'll go with old.

I must be getting old. My very first instinct upon seeing this image was, stop biting your nails!

@meruru: It's funny but I've become increasingly interested in traditional tattoos — and by traditional I mean pin-up girls, anchors, traditional American regular-looking tattoos. I live in a small but artistic community, and I swear, if I see one more beautifully shaded, hand-drawn, spider-webby nymphette with

I support her strategy. I probably drove 3,000 miles post-break up, most of them of the circular type. Environment be damned; Metric + Dead Weather + driving are the only thing keeping me from injuring others.

Hey Heidi - I heard there's some openings in Haiti. Maybe you can mellow out there for awhile. Put your plasticky bits to work.

Hahaha I love the idea of enhancing my apple shape. I could totally write that column. It involves light-colored, clingy items and extra beers for everyone!
