And yet again, I’m literally talking about the difficulty making a successful $200m movie with a plot where you tell the audience that the hero’s victory in the last movie resulted in the deaths of billions. Literally.

I GOT A FEVER. AND THE ONLY PRESCRIPTION IS MORE SPICE!

Anyway, if you really want batshit insane, there’s Children of Dune in which Paul’s son Leto II turns into a sand worm. That’s kind of where the series went off the rails.

Walk without rhythm. It won’t attract the worm.

And I’d argue that downer is key to Dune (the book; while Dune 1 has made some gestures towards “being space messiah is bad mkay?”, we’re yet to see if Dune 2 will round out that arc); I think the events of Messiah are the themes/subtext of Dune made text.

I just read Messiah this winter and thought it was better than I’d expected; it’d make a great part three to Dune 1 + 2.

Curious who you object to in the films we’ve gotten so far?

If I remember correctly, Tom Cruise was the original choice to play Tony Stark when the idea first surfaced around 2005. Him turning it down led to RDJ, and without RDJ the whole thing doesn’t take off. So in a way Tom Cruise is to thank, or blame for the Marvel universe. I do believe he has expressed a desire to end

We’ve already had that, then Sue Storm shoots him. Many. Times.

They’d call it “Global Cup” or “Tournament of Nations”. Not that hard to work around. It’s not like having the World Cup branding / FIFA license even got EA the rights to all the uniforms and logos for the various national federations. I’m always disappointed when a country like Portugal doesn’t have their real kits.

Yeah, that isn’t going to stop them. “International tournament” is right there, and they license the international teams direct from each nations league (LaLiga, FA, DFL etc.). They won’t be able to make a World Cup specific game each 4 years, but they haven’t done that in forever anyway. Don’t need to set their

I think the only real change will be that the EA games won't be able to include World Cups, since those are officially FIFA tournaments.

Be careful what you wish for. I’ve been in that position and it felt like anything but a sabbatical.

I will say that them delivering a car to you with a seven day test drive period and them coming to you to buy a used vehicle is really nice. I sold a vehicle to a dealership recently- got an online quote, took it in and I then had to haggle and shit over the price they offered to me in-person, which was two grand

Used car dealers are such a pain in the ass that a lot of people are willing to lose a lot of money simply for the convenience of not having to deal with one.

Yeah, the Red Robin of cinema seems about right.

Raiders of the Lost Ark and the first 2 Star Wars films have way more artistic value than most other films released the same year. I don’t think the Marvel films have reached that kind of quality so far - or even the quality of The Dark Knight - but it’s not the genre’s fault. It’s good that Olsen gets that.

Except the MCU isn’t the McDonalds of movies. Shit like the 30 direct-to-DVD American Pie sequels are that.

I wouldn’t even say “Fast food to gourmet food.”
