Per the abstracts, the researchers used data about the political and economic freedoms of countries, then sampled men and women from those countries, then researched their interests. They found a positive correlation between freedom and greater division of the sexes by said interests.

Again, none of those links to abstracts discuss any actual evidence for sex-associated interests being biologically ingrained. All they do show is that they have sample evidence that countries rated with greater social and economic equality counterintuitively correlate to a greater division of interests between the

“There are biological factors at play, and they maximize when the social ones are removed.”

Men and women have different interests because they are subtly told that men and women should each have different interests.

I expect it has to do with the social groupthink about what a “scientist” is. Socially, people have been associating “male” as the default gender of “scientist” for years, in part because of generations of sexism in academia, and in part because of the proportion of men v. women in the field.

It was more of an allegory of the family dynamics for Asian-American mothers and their sons.

The Academy definition of short is under 40 minutes, apparently.

There have been a handful of shooter games to try out more realistic guns, like the early Ghost Recon titles. It definitely makes for a very different game, and it’s not a model that works for every genre.

It is. Sometimes the “d” is pronounced with a clear “t” sound instead, though this may be the first time I’ve seen anyone write it that way.

I had not heard of a Kenku before. “CAW CAW MOTHERFUCKER” indeed.

Doctor Sleep isn’t quintessential King, but on the whole it’s a decent piece of storytelling.

Did you see the Arise series? I would wager that Netflix would hire more from that cast than from SAC.

Kinda looks like the castle is rising up out of the ground. I wonder if that’s the means by which Link & Zelda travel to a new map.

Their literary skills are a bit shallow, but their first three “Dune: House” books had fairly solid storylines. If they leave the actual dialogue, character development, and pacing to the episode writers and directors, I could see them actually being quite useful from an IP-management standpoint.

Ramp-up time on a project this ambitious is going to be long. I would expect, however, that later episodes will come out at a steadier pace, since the core game engine and systems will have been built at that point.

The Midgar *reactor* is a short piece of the game. The whole of the Midgar story is quite lengthy, particularly for a first play-through.

Commander Keen? That takes me way back.

I wonder if DC/Warner not only didn’t like the show but realized that their DC Universe streaming platform wasn’t bringing enough customers.

There are two different Snyders being discussed in this thread, and I think you and the OP are referring to different people, possibly unintentionally.

Interesting. Because of his involvement with the Watchmen film adaptation, would it make sense to see Dr. Manhattan as a proxy for Zach Snyder?
