The biggest cable/signal conversion problem I ever had was converting Optical Audio (Toslink) to Digital Coaxial Audio. It’s a royal effing pain, and the only converter boxes I could find would introduce sound artifacts (mostly little pops, like a record player).

If you put in your actual maximum price in the first place, it makes no difference to your chance of winning the item. Where the sniping matters is when you’re trying to bargain-hunt, or you’re attempting to win one of several different auctions for the same item.
