Before being accused of hating on Apple: I own an iPad. I want a Mac Air.

No. And my kids are learning basic grammar, too. Bonus!

Are you smarter than a Tee Vee weatherbot? (Answer: No.)

I love how every childless know-it-all or Perfect Parent(tm) is weighing in on this as if it were proof positive that the mom and grandma were horrible, awful people. You don't know what happened here. If this were the Olympics, there'd be about a 10-way tie for Gold in the Leaping to Conclusions event. Let's be happy

Clearly, you're not.

I rather liked the music. And I found it very moving to see the curvature of the earth. I would have liked to see video of the landing from the cockpit (the plane is notoriously challenging to land), but overall this is one of the best aviation films I've seen, and perhaps the best 10 minutes of my week. Thanks for

Very cool. According to Wikipedia there were only about four of five of these two-seater U2s (trainers) built. This is so way cool. Even better full screen.

Especially when it's crystal clear that Jesus' depiction of what's going on this video is not what actually happened in this video. Giz was doing well this week, and I even was getting used to the upside of the new design. Dropping this dud is uninteresting.

Amazing story—a very fun read, esp. the ground speed check! When I was a kid in the early 1970s, in Alaska, a plane carrying Reps. Nick Begich and Hale Boggs from Anchorage to Juneau was lost enroute. Since Boggs, in particular, was a heavy hitter, the government pulled out all the stops to find the the lost plane.

During the Gulf War, someone asked me if there's anything I'd like to do in the war. "Fly an A-10" I said right away. Flying low and blowing up tanks sounds like good thing to do, esp. when the tanks are Saddam's.

Airplanes like these, while finely built, can also be dangerous when unexpected interactions between onboard systems occur. They're not exactly 737s. So there's some risk involved.

Wow, you write in proto-English to call some state stupid? That takes some moxie.

Cool astronauts, but what's Ringo doing in this picture? Perhaps as someone who can be equally fourth from the left, or from the right.

Yes, and this Classic Menus program rocks. I used it as "training wheels" for a year while I learned the new 2007/2010 ribbon and menu commands, which now work great.

Nice remedial Word 101. But nothing a power user wouldn't already know here. But seeing how many Word haters there are (for no reason other than fashionability) I can see why this tips might be useful to those who have finally had to "reduce" themselves to using the best word processor on the market right now.

The Onion may be the most trustworthy source of the lot these days. Beats hell out of Gizmodo, and its website is actually readable.

Giz is a tech blog? You're new here, aren'tcha?

@QoB: I actually think they are sized in UK sizes? They don't go by our system, at least....the pair I bought are size 39.

@QoB: Holy shit! That is a ridiculous markup. Get someone to send you some from the States! They are life (well - run, at least) changing!

@QoB: Really? I love my Vibrams and for me they were way cheaper than the Nikes and Reeboks I used to run in. I paid $95 for mine which - sadly - is not expensive for a great running shoe.
