@Actrivia: I spent a lot of my life in Brazil, and while a "Western" definition of "Latin American" may include Brazilians, they don't self-identify as Latin American. By your definition, then, Italians are Latino? Probably not. Romanians? Doubtful. Even Spaniards? Nah, never met a Spaniard living in Spain who would

@Evie Havok: I'm not offended by this article. I'm actually not even Latina, if you must know. I just thought the author made a pretty ignorant assumption about the physical traits of your "average" Latino (which I believe does not even exist).

@Casquivana: She also said she shares the opinion that they are too short (I had to read the sentence twice to notice she was referring to herself as well).

@Cairn Awaits MizJenkins: You're talking about race and nationality. "Latino" is neither of those, which is what we are talking about here.

@Evie Havok: I didn't get into a discourse on classism in Latin American countries. Don't derail.

@tecolote: Thanks for the backup!!

@tecolote: Yes. This. Hearted so hard.

@Evie Havok: You should probably also know that "mestizo", unlike "latino" is not a broad term for those of mixed race. It refers traditionally to someone of indigenous and European ancestry, not someone who has afro-european ancestry, or afro-indigenous ancestry.

@Evie Havok: I generally think it is not up to anyone to dictate how someone else self-identifies.

@ProfessorPlum: Yeah, you're like only a 4.7 on the Peruvian Richter Scale ;)

@Understater: No, because Gisele is from Brazil. Brazilians don't self-identify as Latino. She would identify as "Brazilian", a nationality. Do not even bring Brazil into this mix - it is an entirely different beast.

@ProfessorPlum: I have no idea what "technically latino" even means.

@Understater: Also - Spain as an example? Seriously? Many Latinos have at least some Spanish ancestors - that is how the original definition of "latino" was created.

@Understater: Right, but in the US, we still label them "Latinos" if the emigrate here.

@ProfessorPlum: Were you also less than impressed with this post? I don't see a lot of criticism on here, but I found it pretty poorly written.

Latinos are "too short"? You realize the term is quite broad, do you not? Argentinians and Chileans are some of the tallest men I have ever met.

@killakoopa: It's not an attack on you. It's an attack on the trend toward ignoring the shift key. Your English, frankly, is very good! But it's hard to read all small letters, just like it's hard to read all caps.

There are always signs that say to declare if you have a pacemaker. Why not prosthetic body parts? Would have saved this woman a lot of emotional distress and humiliation.

@tinfoil-party: You are completely misunderstanding what I asked you. On the contrary, you seemed to suggest that anyone who HASN'T suffered an easting disorder shouldn't talk about them:

@tinfoil-party: You said, "if your weight's not an issue, why talk about it?" You didn't say, "People with eating disorders shouldn't talk about them".
