Flash Rebirth is much, much more Geoff Johns-y than Green Lantern Rebirth if just for how much Johns seems to think murder is awesome.

That sounds right. It feels earlier to me because I know he went DC exclusive immediately after his unceremonious end with Marvel.
True. It's also the comic that does its goddamn best to ruin She-Hulk as a character.
Superman Earth One is the comic where Superman arms terrorists.
Superman Earth One is the comic where Superman saves no one.
Superman Earth One is the comic that gave us "Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex"
Superman Earth One is the comic where we're supposed to feel that Superman is responsible for a heroin overdose.
Yeah, the fact that Waid's name is even on the cover of that book is crazy to me. I mean, on the title page, Samnee is even the first credit listed.
Like I said, some of it is taste. I think his Justice League is god awful and Rebirth, while executed competently is every bad trope and retcon piled on top of each other.
It's certainly better than Superman Earth One which is probably the worst Superman comic ever published.
Fair.
I don't know if I buy that but some of the comedy's there.
Did you read his Avengers run?
What about Justice League?
Green Lantern Rebirth?
I liked Morrison's take on him in JLA and he has some good stuff in Green Lantern Corps during the Johns Era.
It's clear that Johns loved Hal Jordan and probably had only read GL comics through the '70s because he barely understands how any of those characters should work. I think he gets a hang of it eventually but Rebirth handles just about everyone who isn't Hal and Carol pretty poorly.
Yeah, I do love the way it focuses on how Guy, Kyle and John all use the rings but it's the way it breaks and undoes decades of continuity to bring back Boring Pants McHomicide that kills the book for me.
This is a good choice. It is a really beautiful book but maybe the dumbest story Johns has ever written and that's a real stiff competition.
It also has like 10 pages of Sinestro kicking the hell out of Kyle which is fun for me.
No, it is a very, very good comic.
Honestly, and I've been thinking about this a lot lately because of what's been going on in the current Green Lantern run, Parallax's death in Final Night should have been the last Hal Jordan story. Yeah, it would have been disappointing but Hal crosses every line in Emerald Dawn. He kills so many, leaves so much…
As a big Wildstorm fan, yeah, I get that but Orlando clearly loves Wildstorm and Midnighter. I've actually talked to him on Twitter about it a couple times and this is clearly a world and character he cared a lot about. I highly recommend it.
Yeah, the "Gay Batman" analogue always strikes me wrong because Midnighter is so much weirder than Batman. He has that Wolverine sense of taking pleasure in the violence he inflicts, that Moon Knight running commentary, and yeah, the Batman bone-breaking violence. He's a shit-talker and a killer and a wonderfully fun…
Geoff Johns frequently does that by being utter garbage.
