Yeah, Priest's transparency has always been one of the things I've admired most about him. He writes dense comics, ones that deserve to be actually analyzed but he also wants you to understand them.

I think some of it is the distance of him not being in office but more of it is this sort of collective hallucination that really Bush was harmless and Cheney was the evil one and somehow that exonerates Bush of his crimes.

There's no getting around how much Rebirth reads like an apology first and a story second.
I liked but didn't love Rebirth.
That's probably fair although I would say it's been a much longer time since Johns has produced anything worth more than a shrug.
