It's really funny to me that we've started to get to the point of YouTube where there's multiple generations of these kids and some of them have that "Not in my day" thing going as they quietly delete videos of themselves in black face.

I really loved it the first time I saw it but yeah, it's a little rough around the edges. Some of the mysticism has that distinct late '90s early 2000s New Age woogliness, some of the nightmare imagery isn't really rendered right and none of the mythology really connects in ways that you want. There's a bunch of

Yeah! I am very excited for it!

I like them a lot but I really wish they'd print in chronological order instead of jumping all around the place.

Yeah, it's a good one. Definitely worth picking up.

That wasn't much of a draw for me. I guess I'm glad it gave us a pretty decent Ra's issue towards the end but I don't like thinking about how much money I had to spend to get to that point.

Definitely read Brubaker's run. The Devil in Cell Block D alone is among the best Daredevil stories ever.

I will say, I knew from pretty early on that it had to be Thomas and it was abundantly clear they were setting up Cluemaster as the Red Herring. It was not worth 52 issues to get to that.

Yeah, we'll see. It does look like it has a little more of a perspective, so that can only be an improvement.

It's also the book that supposed to lead into Civil War II but Marvel's already promoting a different Avengers event as well. It's mystifying.

I know he's not always a favorite around here, but Bendis is a smart writer with keen instincts and it just feels like they're going to waste on Iron Man. Compared to his more personal books where he's allowed to flex a little perspective, he feels downright workmanlike here. It's very disappointing.

You and me both.

Sorry that one hero is different from the literally thousands that match exactly what you're looking for.

I think you're assuming a sinister conspiracy where there's not one. Marvel and DC both have made a concentrated effort in the last few years towards more diversity but, honestly, I think it's hard to even remember the conversations around why they made those decisions. Yes, there were backlashes here or discussions

That's always the peril of the weekly. There's been good and bad stuff in there, but overall, I think the story has been fun and thrilling. It's been much better than Batman Eternal and I think this week's issue was probably the best thing James Tynion IV has written at DC.

I also liked the flip books and think that was a compelling way to showcase a new title. Honestly, I love the idea of making the previews either free or rolled into another title. When DC added a bunch of new books recently, they put digital previews for all of them up for free on Comixology. That's a great way to get

Do you really think you should pay $5 for a taste though? Why? It just seems silly to me.

I hate the idea of the Point One issues so much. In the era of the internet, when you can pitch your books and establish what the tone is going to be ahead of time so easily, why would you then charge your audience $4.99 for a bunch of 6-page commercials for comics? To me, it's the epitome of Marvel's seeming disdain

You could have just written "Jeph Loeb."

Joe Kelly set the balance for humor versus pathos that most Deadpool stories sort of discard now in favor of one or the other. It's the run to read and it does go on for quite some time. Gail Simone's run on Deadpool is another excellent place to start.
