They have a phrase about the people on cruises:

Yes, the cruise lines can all go bankrupt—such a frivolous “industry”—put fatass whites on huge floating hotels and paddle them in large circles down in the Caribbean. Are you effing kidding me? And yet there are buku blubber butts with enough cash to blow on these gorge-yourself-at-the-buffet-table-all-week

A million times this. They registered in random island nations to avoid paying taxes and so they could pay their workers next to nothing. Fuck em. Hope they all go belly up.

While some resort destinations would see a huge economic loss, nearly everyone else would be better off if cruise ships all died.

Let them register their ships stateside and pay taxes and then we’ll look into giving them assistance in a year or two.

Tonight’s episode was great. I haven’t felt this giddy about Star Trek since I was 12 and Voyager was still a thing. I guess Discovery isn’t for everyone.

I pressed that little star 101 times on your comment, but it doesn’t seem to be working, because it only added one star.

Another for the “bizarrely angry Discovery review” pile. This one is better at seeming like it’s not a “waaaaah this doesn’t make me feel like TNG made me feel when I was 9" screed than the ones on Reddit, but that’s all this is.

So very, very happy right now as a life long Trek lover.

I got such a kick out of the Enterprise showing up at the end (and it looked fantastic), so of course the AVC review hates it.

Does anyone get the feeling that we are being too hard on this show and too easy on Star Wars?

Zack Handlen = Neil Degrasse Tyson. He’s not necessarily wrong, but he’s spoiling the fun.

As always, I think Zack’s core criticism are accurate.

I didn’t necessarily get a “sexytimes” vibe from him to her, but I think pretty clearly, he was more interested in her than he had any reason to be - we finally know why.

That was my thought. The season is ending with Burnham as captain. I bet 400 quatloos on it.

the Charon seemed like it was like a Dyson Sphere-esque starship

Let’s get real here for a moment. The UFP of supposed to be a kind of worldwide government that represents all of earth. White people only represent about 15% of the earth’s population, roughly one billion or so, between the US and Europe. (Canada and Australia’s populations are too small to be statistically

I can’t really tell by the tone of your comment if you’re actually triggered by the diverse cast or not. Most ensemble casts these days do tend to be rather diverse.

Why did Kirk have to kiss Uhura? This is a franchise that has traditionally been about challenging our preconceptions, and pushing our boundaries? The question really should be, why not?

It depends which long-con you’re talking about?
