I think a sizeable portion of people do, in fact, understand that he coerced her into something she didn’t want. People understand that there was confusion between the two parties about what was ok and where they thought the night was headed. To be fair, a huge part of why Republicans stole such a majority was thanks to heavy gerrymandering. The dems don’t have that going for them. In fact, thanks to gerrymandering, most house elections are steep uphill climbs for Dem candidates. A Democrat induced shutdown would have lasting electoral consequences, imo.

Schumer would rather let Trump build the frickin wall than let Trumpublicans blame the Dems for a temporary government shut down. Republicans have very selective memories. They were quick to forget, and even supported, that time the Rs held the government hostage for what, like three weeks? But they’ll remember that…
