That’s part of my point. People buy cars for reasons other than need (image, fun, etc). The other part of my point is some people have legitimate needs that exceed moving one person between work and home. A leaf is still a fairly compromised vehicle; there are lots of common situations that it wouldn’t work for

I think choosing a workforce based on real factors such as skill, location, and cost is a lot different from actively harming them (say exposing them to dangerous chemicals).

They’ve gone pretty conventional in their design so far. It’s clean and somewhat attractive, but really not any big departure from the norm other than the recent removal of most of the grill.
