Sure, it’s possible that just driving together made them a target, but that still seems too simple since they didn’t impound immediately.

That’s not always a great assumption, but it still seems to me we’re only hearing half of the story.

How much did it cost you for them to be certain you weren’t doing anything illegal? Haha, j/k, glad the cops were reasonable in your situation.

If it is that simple, they would have immediately impounded the cars. Something later changed their mind.

Seems like that sort of thing would have influenced the initial response. Unless do you think they were reported doing something else (maybe illegal, maybe just annoying) later so they trumped up this incident after the fact?

Interesting read, all sorts of twists and turns. That the police didn’t immediately impound the cars seems to indicate that something later triggered their change of direction. Influential cyclist (or family member)? Super D-Bag cop supervisor? Suspected link of one or more of the drivers to something else, but little

It’s not that people are too dumb to use them. Each of them has used it to make it out of a dealer lot at the very least. The problem in my view isn’t that it’s un-intuitive or difficult to use. It’s that it doesn’t provide enough feedback (position, lights, warnings, fail-safes) for users to be confident that they

They don’t allow you to turn it off (similar effect to removing the key) and some flash a message telling you to select park.

It seems like the main shortfall of this (other than making a simple thing complicated) is that there is no fail-safe like other implementations have. This seems like a fairly major oversight, particularly if they weren’t the first to implement this. Hopefully they can do something quickly to prevent further tragedies.

Sharing a truck, a road-trip car, or a sports car sounds like it would make a lot of sense for certain people.

It’s good for carpooling.

Hopefully they don’t also sell Mustangs

Three Zambonis? Nobody needs more than two Zambonis! That’s just indulgent.

To broaden the impact further, this type of thing is a necessary step for all types of equality. To make things truly equal among genders/races/religions/etc. you will hopefully benefit from additional rights, but you must also bear additional responsibilities and changed expectations.

OMG! OMG! OMG! A celebrity just said something to me!

Operated by the driver or those he/she shares the road with?

Congratulations on your new fame. Once this sliding door idea of yours takes off you could be up for the Nobel Peace Prize.

“If they refuse, I suspect we can contact the French to organize a strike.”

Judging by the vehicles I saw parked there, I think it’s based on hypothetical fuel consumption while falling out of an airplane with the ignition off. Your Miata would certainly qualify.

I was at a Kroger that had separate special spots for Low Emission (35MPG+ it said) and electric vehicles.
