Valve decided to use an immutable file system for the Steam Deck’s OS - essentially, the core of the operating system, including the directories where system-wide apps are typically installed, is read-only. It’s a safeguard against people who’d accidentally end up making their OS unbootable by blindly following

Yeah, what happened recently? I now have to log into Kinja everytime I close the page and return. It doesn’t remember me.

How is that working out for you?. Decent/good quality?

I’ve been running Microsoft Edge on mine (for GamePass streaming) and it’s getting updated on the reg.

I assumed it was doomed when the con man who’s desperate for attention announced he was buying Twitter on a whim.

My take is that Musk never had the liquidity to swing the deal in the first place. He made the offer, then realized he couldn’t afford it after Twitter took him up on it. Now that he finally came to the conclusion that they have zero motivation to give him a discount, he’s pulling out.

Two weeks ago, during an all-hands in front of roughly 3,000 full-time Unity employees, Riccitiello assured staffers the company was not in any financial trouble, and that Unity wouldn’t be laying anyone off, according to sources who attended.”

I spent nearly a decade in QA, so I’d say I have a pretty good understanding of the process. Seicarescu is absolutely right about the number of teams on projects like this. Largescale games will almost certainly have an internal QA team that works for the developer, along with at least one external team. The external

I’ve worked in the industry far more than Mr. Booty and it was never a badge of honor to sleep under your desk.  It sucked to have to do that 10 years ago and sucks even worse now.  What a choad.
