To be fair, the LED naming convention has been around since before OLED TVs were commonplace or really even existed. It was calling out the fact that they had LED backlights instead of CCFL which was more common in earlier large LCD displays.
I just bought a 65" TCL 8 for $1000. The cheapest available 65" OLEDs are all $2k+.
