A lot of BMWs come with staggered wheels & tires. A lot of BMW drivers switch to a square setup for winter. Some of the staggered tire sizes like on my car have winter tires available, but not all of the stock BMW staggered sizes do.

Getting “cheap” winter tires for an M3 would require switching from the staggered sizes to a square, relatively narrow setup. Going with the same offset front & rear to allow for rotating tires would require running spacers in the rear to avoid the rear wheels looking ridiculously far in from the fenders.

I wonder if as a Jew I’m allowed to file for provisional GODDAMN membership.

When I had a “beater” it was a Hemi Grand Cherokee with severe snow duty rated all-terrain General Grabber AT2s. Not quite snow tires but they did carry the mountain-snowflake symbol, which requires passing a winter capability test to qualify for the symbol. They weren’t as good as winter tires under braking but…

M+S means nothing. Any tire manufacturer can slap an M+S stamp on any tire as long as its design is intended for snow but there is no requirement to pass any kind of test of real performance in order to qualify for the M+S stamp.

I’m essentially fine with the choices TFA and TLJ make with Han & Luke’s character trajectories.

The main thing that should be added is performance winter tires.
