The people buying $100,000 station wagons aren’t worried about depreciation and likely own multiple other expensive/exotic vehicles. They’re likely the people managing other people’s money.

Yeah but you’ll have a bitchin’ wagon and no one else will so who’s really the rube in that situation?

I literally just put a deposit down on a 2013 E63 Wagon P30 Performance pack (if anyone wants to buy my 2010 E63 AMG, here’s the link:

I dunno, an FJ40 with the top off would be max flex...

It was a business association that really spread it.

Florida here, screw engine oil I’m fixing the AC!

Exactly. You also start to subconsciously hate the car or at least like it less, so the snowballing is more likely to occur, and you are on your way to considering it disposable and moving on. In that regard it’s not that different to a friendship or romantic relationship (which of course is pretty close to the mark

Remember that time you drove around for weeks, probably months, with your HIGH BEAMS ON because you couldnt be bothered to change out your headlight bulbs?

The Broken Windows theory applies to cars too. Once you let little things go, things go downhill at an very quick pace. If you stay on top of repairs and maintenance, you end up with a car with 200k miles that looks brand new. If you neglect small stuff and let it snowball, soon you are selling your car for scrap with

Wouldn’t it be better to just eschew the drama and go with a Toyota LC, aka the Julia Roberts of the automotive world?

I will take 1 Ram Laramie with a Gen 3 EcoDiesel please...or at least that is what I would buy, or if the 2020 Tacoma is actually comfy inside with its cutting edge 6 way power seat.

GREAT! now make parts for the J60,J62, and J80 series again!

yeah, most people wont get the land cruiser or the LX. the slow sales reflect that attitude. I can tell you the people that do have 2nd and 3rd owner 200 series ADORE THEM. I know a guy that owns and could drive literally any land cruiser they want...and I mean ANY.  his daily is a nicely modded 200 series.  loves it

I opened the moonroof and rolled down the rear glass on the drive home after mountain biking yesterday. Bliss.

I had a 4th Gen V8 Limited 4Runner. I now have a 2013 Land Cruiser. I test drove the GX460 three times.  I think the 200 Series Land Cruiser is head and shoulders above the 4Runner (4th and 5th Gen) and GX460.

I had an ‘03 V8 4Runner that I bought new and kept for 13 years. When it was time to replace it, I test drove the 5th Gen 4Runner three times. I wanted to like it. It is the right size for me. But I just hated that drivetrain.

Drive one and you’ll understand.

Yes. Because this is back to basics ruggedness.

There was probably some guy who said that about carburetors, a heater, and synchro-mesh. It’s all relative.

You and probably 20 other people
