It’s an interesting request from the Army, and to test the validity, I’m tempted to stat up said vehicles and run them in Team Yankee (the “what if?” WW3 in 1985/Eastern Europe tabletop wargame). They already have Army troops in M113s and Marines in LAVs, and both in Hueys, be interesting to see the direct comparison

I think you’re right. These are as much cultural touchstones as anything that’s happening in the world of sportsball, and those questions show up often enough on Jeopardy.

And I don’t begrudge you that experience, I hope when you can afford that classic that you enjoy every moment of it. I’ve had those experiences (a truck built the year I graduated high school, some 20+ years ago, that I’ve kept running for longer than I really should, and a half-finished crapcan racer that I recently

I used to think that what I wanted in life (or at least, for my daily) was a classic musclecar restomod - classic musclecar looks on the outside, modern driveline and appliances on the inside. ‘Cause I want it to go fast, corner, stop, and I’m not putting up with the summer without AC.

This came out 6 years ago:

Where’s the media’s responsibility for blowing this event out of the water (and we won’t hear the last of it for weeks, thank you very much)? 50 dead in one evening is a tragedy, but there are so many other things that are wrong in America, yet this is what we’re focusing on. Fine, numbers (taken from the CDC’s Deaths

I would be appalled at all this poor fiduciary sense, but where else am I going to get my inexpensive used cars if idiots aren’t going to sink themselves into debt up past their eyeballs? Keep on squandering your money, folks, I plan on dying debt-free yet still enjoying my life and livelihood.

And that’s what you get for not letting your game be played by the Glorious PC Master Race. Yes, yes, we get D2 (still over a month away, but the beta was tasty), but Bungie-created FPS’s still work best on a computer with keyboard and mouse. When will they learn?

They’re starting to offer the “not a minivan but still so very much a minivan” Equinox as a diesel? Why they don’t just offer the actual minivans with a diesel option (which fits in so well with their slow-driving normal mode of operation) anyway? It boggles the mind.

As someone who “cheap-cigar-chomping, grey-goatee-having” describes to a tee (I would be paranoid about illicit surveillance if you also threw in “non-ironic Hawaiian-shirt wearing”)(‘cause I’m growing old as disgracefully as possible, thank you), I have to say that I have little interest in cruisers. I don’t quite

You’re thinking of Neal Stephenson’s “Clang”. Yup, backed that particular Kickstarter, my one and only failure. Oh well. I’d forgotten the GabeN had appeared in those backer videos, have to go back and see if any of them are still up somewhere online.

Whether she has any basis or not for her DMCA claim, between this and the YouTube shenanigans of a couple weeks back I’m betting she’s never going to see any work in the videogame industry, ever again.

Actually, the contractors they’re talking about aren’t even the armed kind - they’re in a foreign country fulfilling some role that the US military doesn’t want to do itself, everything from electrical generator repair and maintenance to driving buses around post to cooking food in the cafeterias to supplying gravel

What’s even sadder than losing Charlie Murphy? That Dane Cook is still alive and mourning him instead of the other way around.

“GM thinks new Equinox looks TOO much like a minivan, dials it back a bit. Said one anonymous manager, ‘We already have them thinking the current Equinox isn’t a minivan, when it so clearly is, we didn’t want to push it too far.’ Rest of America still sees through GM’s charade.”

Reminds me of Metal Marines (I had to Google for 5 minutes to find the name of it), which was better on the SNES, but when they ported it to the PC on Win 3.1, they made it kinda unique - each of the different parts of the map (your base, your enemy’s base, your build menu, your status) opened in its own window on

Betting it can’t crack the encryption on Chrysler’s engines, keeping the Hemi just as undesirable as the Chevy LS’s and Ford Coyotes are desirable to the muscle crowd. Sad, really, the Challenger (with just a little shortening and a little widening) would be an excellent muscle car if the aftermarket shops could crack

I can understand the trademark friendly “pot sasquatch”, but the first thing I thought was “marijuana Wookiee”.

I helped Kickstart the Oi bell from Knog, and it looks nothing like a bell but can be heard as well as anything else out there.

And welcome to the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race. Be sure to physically abuse (or at least ridicule loudly and in public) those dirty console peasants at your leisure.
