Adding a 240 outlet to your garage is under $1000. Most cases only $500 with labor if your panel is nearby. Starting price of the Model 3 / Y is $37k. Not $60k.

Why? You almost never need to charge on the road. You charge every night at home. You start every long trip with 300+ miles of range. By the time you have exhausted that, you need to stop and eat anyway. 

Do you eat lunch in 10 minutes? On a real roadtrip, by the time you stop, hit the bathroom and wolf down a sandwich, the Model 3 is ready to go again before you are. It is already fast enough.

The fuck are you talking about? 280 miles you can get there in one charge. Plug into a dryer outlet when you get there and you’ll have plenty of charge for the ride home.

I’m not sure if your setup is actually doing DC panel —> DC EV charging, unless you aren’t showing the inside EV plug. It would have a different connector if it were doing DC charging, following the CHADEMO or CCS standard. It’s a bigger plug for DC charging. Otherwise, it is probably just doing the standard DC —> AC…

Tesla tried this with the original Model S. Look up “tesla model s yacht floor” It was completely open. People didn’t like it because there was no place to put your junk. So, they added a useless console like everyone else.

EVs for police cars make a ton of sense. They don’t drive very far and they spend most of their time idling. The model 3 would pay for itself compared to a gas vehicle in no time.

So, if you understand how Autopilot works and don’t abuse it, it is better than supercruise. So, CR gave it poor ratings because it assumes we’re all idiots and can’t be trusted. Seems fair.

I can’t quite tell how they’d do this for $6k. The Sur Ron costs $3600 and goes 45 mph and only has 30 miles of range. You’d need a lot more battery, which costs a lot.
