It’s for winning the regular season title, basically a nod to European leagues that don’t do playoffs. It’s actually a big deal in MLS, though I don’t think it’s quite as meaningful because the schedule is unbalanced.

I think the small Olympic roster size is a blessing in disguise in terms of dropping the legacy and chemistry picks. I’m thinking drop Lloyd, Sonnett, Long, Harris, Krieger, McDonald and Brian, and add Short and Sullivan. Hell, if everyone’s healthy, Dunn can even play in the front 3!

Like any other sport, and more so than basketball or baseball, there isn’t a holy grail stat that you should really be ranking players by. That said, there are really useful per-90 stats.
