Ouch, that’s all rather damning. Thanks for educating me!

I think she has no things she actually believes in and just jumps on whatever bandwagon she thinks will get her elected. It’s pretty gross. It’s like how she is trying to pretend she cares about racist police officers brutalizing black citizens or acting like she disagrees with the mass incarceration her husband…
I admire your cynicism :)
It saddens me that our system has failed you and so many others.
Exactly. I'm a very strong woman. I'm also a mom of 4 who was rushed back to work at 6 weeks post partum because we needed the paycheck. My last baby was a section & my incision wasn't even completely healed, but I only got 6 weeks paid leave and couldn't afford the additional 6 weeks unpaid, even though with each kid…
Agreed 100%. Saying that Hillary being President would in itself be great for women is akin to saying that the election of President Obama was great for the Black community.
I don’t think she’s trying to downplay her strength, I think she’s is trying to counter the perception that she’s a robot devoid of human feels. Being a strong woman and being perceived as maternal are not necessarily mutually exclusive.
We can chalk this up to a larger societal problem, which is how Americans work themselves to death and sacrifice everything to appear busy. This “cult of busy” rewards people for boasting about how tired they are and why. Downtime and vacations are a dirty word in corporate America and despite how busy we are, we…
Back when the general consensus was that meanie feminists forced Joss Whedon off Twitter with their witchery, I remember being really pissed off because no one ever acts like women being hateswarmed on Twitter means the Internet needs to go to its room and think about what it’s done. Hell, Cecily Strong deleted her…
That’s hilarious. I used to beg my mother to buy me “the little green trees” (broccoli, obvs) and “baby cabbages” (Brussels sprouts) and whenever she would get salad from a salad bar, she always got a few of those pickled baby corns for me. Miniature foods are so fun.
Get ready for comments like “kids should eat whatever is served to them or starve!”
And/or an aneurysm breakdown scenario.
I’ll wait 7 or 8 years before his book “Doing Nothing: How I Learned the Priceless Art of Relaxation After I Had to Spend 2 Years in Bed Due to a Mysterious Chronic Illness.”
First, fuck Colorado Republicans. A genuinely good program reduced the teen pregnancy rate!
As the Denver Post reported, the IUD program in Colorado “faced resistance from fiscal hawks who consider the spending redundant and social conservatives who believe IUDs cause abortions, a point rejected by the medical community.”
Dan Savage did a fantastic piece on this, pointing out that it’s either outrageously hypocritical, or it exposes the fact that conservatives don’t really care about unborn babies—what they really care about is policing people’s sex lives (and women’s bodies):
For every dollar put into the program, he says, citing a state study, it avoids an estimated $5.85 in the state’s Medicaid program over a three-year period.
And worse, its becoming a meaningless word akin to a brand that people think they can ascribe to themselves as cover while simultaenously saying heinously sexist shit. I just ran into a terrible example yesterday! A guy claiming to be a “male feminist” in order to not only bash offended women as loony, but to tell…
The issue isn’t abortion. It’s women having sex at all. FIFY
