I didn’t think people actually believed in sweeping generalizations of the other “side” but the internet proves me wrong every day. With every passing year I’m more and more sure that division and tribalism are the most likely threats to us, and I don’t know how you begin to fix the growing divide. Not to mention the

I don’t think it’s so much that they don’t know that, it’s just that a lot of people in power/people funding the people in power care way more about getting as much as possible for themselves in the near future than long term reward.

Or they just find it funny looking, which even the sub itself is split on. Where are you getting anger from?

It’s a little more complicated than that, as journalism overall is contracting and with that some of the needed investigatory checks on power we’ve long relied on are fading too. Especially on a local level. Couple that with increasing antagonism to journalism in general from certain segments and the general

Yeah. And honestly, while I understand why a lot of people like physical magazines, I really don’t think they need to be around anymore. At least not for areas that have high levels of decent internet access, it’s a waste of a resource.

Exactly. I’m not trying to be a dick... but I see a lot of enthusiasts making the mistake of thinking ____ <- insert car here that the community may like but the average person doesn’t want, is a great idea to revive ___ <- insert company here. What you may personally enjoy =/= what the average person wants. I get why

If you’re going to reinterpret a car you’ve already done, making something that looks nothing like it undermines that effort to me. I get what you’re saying, but this is just a show piece celebrating their heritage. It’s not the place for them to worry about any of that. I don’t think every electric concept needs to

Not from Mercedes. They’re smoothing out their cars, especially the EQ line.

Alright.

You sorta confirmed my suspicions. But, like I said, I respect that you view the man that way whether or not I agree with you.

I mean.. you don’t exactly*have* to pay any attention to Tesla or Elon if you really dislike the company that much. It’s completely voluntary. I can’t say I share that view, but I can respect the hate.

I’m starting to think that literally everyone who pays attention to Tesla either thinks he’s jesus or an evil immoral con-man trying to destroy the dreams of enthusiasts. There seem to be few people who have a balanced view of the man, or at least they weigh certain things more heavily than others.

You’re right, and that’s a textbook example of confirmation bias. That’s an issue in subjects well beyond cars.

It may be heresy to say this, but I can’t say I’ve ever thought someone was smug because they drive a certain car. It reminds me of this guy on Reddit who argued that other people owed it to him to wear less expensive clothes because they were “looking down on him” by default.

Whatever they show, It’ll be close to whatever is going into production. That was the case with the S,X & 3 at least.

Meh, broad brushing is always a terrible idea. But more importantly, you’re kinda giving people an incentive to act like that way towards to you. I can’t tell if you’re just looking for a fight or not, but there’s no real reason for that. You had to know the reaction you’d get.

Why are you so crochety? Sheesh.

I’m pretty sure the concept of a joke didn’t originate with our generation. Or maybe it did, in which case life must have been truly terrible back in the monotone era.

I can’t help but wonder whether or not the average person cares about nomenclature for cars, or at least gets as upset about it as enthusiasts do. I have a feeling the answer to that is no.

I have no idea what that is a picture of, but alright.
