Stuff like the landing gear components and the central wing-connecting airframe are often still from steel. The Boeing 777 is 11% steel, by weight. How much of that is ferritic steel I can't tell, but a typical landing gear alloy, 300M, fits the bill.

One year later, in 1999, Citroën puts Philippe Bugalski on the podium, top spot, in the 5th WRC rally of that season, the Rally Catalunya, and they pull an even bigger stunt: a 1-2 podium ahead of the WRC cars at the 6th WRC rally of that season, the Tour de Corse.

You know how you used to think that all movies based on video games suck (excepting, of course, 1975's intense psychosexual thriller Pong)? Well, you're still right. Need for Speed, though it tries very hard, is a movie that assumes car-lovers are idiots. And, as a car-lover and (rarely) occasional non-idiot, I'm sick

And so, with this C7 'vette in mind, it's a claim for a car for the road. Personally I think it's kind of hollow to claim 1000 hp. It's a 900 hp C7 Corvette Stingray, with a 100 shot nitrous added. But hey, that's just my opinion. The car will still be a riot to drive.

Or, you know, you can have some tech that will help all drivers:

Bloody hell, don't go all hyperbole on me!

Hey, I'm just pointing out why a lot of car/driving/racing enthusiasts don't think it's reasonable to include the 50, 100, 200 or whatever horsepower shot of nitrous oxide in the total hp figure.

I think the point is valid though. Nitrous oxide is a, well, a consumable. An impractical consumable if you want to want to race (or "drive spirited" for longer stretches). With a turbocharger, a supercharger (or a Why Not Have Both?) you can drive all you want, just add fuel.

Erhmmm... Ok, Devil's Advocate here: Russia could stop paying its debts to American banks. Russia could drop the US Dollar as their Reserve Currency.

Capps was uninjured in the incident, but an engine explosion at nearly 300 MPH has to be one of the scariest things that you can experience.

Modern plastics and rubbers go quite a way in being UV resistant. Besides, the panels are replaceable. Put new ones in after a few years if they can't be reconditioned.

That, and owners of window panes nearby will also have been appreciative.

What I meant to say was that there was relatively little shrapnel, given that a naval mine is mostly explosives and little else. Because the effectiveness of such a mine isn't shrapnel at all.

With the distinction that a naval mine is mostly just a container full of explosives, the damage to ship or submarine is being inflicted by the blast, not the shrapnel.

Stuff going boom in a controlled situation never gets old.

It was an official bomb squad job. They have sufficient knowledge about stuff that goes boom to know that the pile needs to be bigger on the beach side so the blast here directed out to sea.

And this being a high profile patient in a University hospital, assume that a brain scan is also in order on a regular basis.

6.) Toyota 2JZ-GTE

OK, *POOOOF*. Gone.

Often, people talk about "exhaust note" when they actually mean the overall car-noise, so the symphony of intake noise, engine noise and exhaust noise.
