The line between "Playing it safe" and "Greedy" is a blurry one.

Starting up a production/fabrication line isn't cheap. Start-up costs for, say, a plastic injection mould (for a casing) isn't cheap either.
Jackson portrayed from the, IMO, right era. He was great when he made Bad and Thriller. Afterwards? It went downhill from there for me.
Actually, I'll take the Minority Opinion then.
Methanol doesn't have the horsepower needed to propell a car? Current DFMCs already put out 5 kW. And the beauty is that current internal combustion engines can be modified to run on the same fuel. With plenty of power. (ChampCars and Indy Cars were run on methanol.)
Still, you wouldn't want to sip the condensation from even a modern internal combustion car. Gasoline or diesel. Polycyclic carbonates, soot particles, and so on. But I'll sip from condensated output from either FC or DMFC without fear. Not that I know of any of those around.
There are DMFCs that run of factory-grade methanol without further purification. That was reported back in 2001 already. ( DoE report ) Scaling up beyond current 5 kW capacity (if Wikipedia is correct on the 5 kW) will take more time and effort, but that doesn't mean it's not feasilbe.
Funny thing, but there are other fuel cells that will do this trick. A DMFC (that's Direct Methanol Fuel Cell) will operate on methanol vapor and expell pure water and pure CO2. No NOx nor nasty carbohydrates either for that fuel cell. And plants actually love a bit of CO2.
That still doesn't eliminate methanol as a viable fuel for a mixed methanol internal combustion / direct methanol fuel cell car park.
Let's put it this way: If it's suitable to race cars with methanol, including pit stops for fuel (Yes, I'm looking at you Champ Cars and earlier Indy Cars) then it isn't toxic enough to keep out of cars.
Did you notice that the date of the article was 28 March 2013? Suspiciously close to April Fools day?
Well, tricky one, this. At least the second bit.
The car appears to be sitting on an incline, that's why the perspective might look off. It's not level. (At least, that's how I see it.)
Someone posted this on Oppositelock. But I can't find that post. So credits to whoever put it up there in the first place.
