When Kingdom Hearts was first announced, I thought it was the STUPIDEST, most INSANE concept (and not in the good way) to ever have been created. I wanted nothing to do with it.

I used to screw around for hours in Golden Eye 64 with cheats on and with crazy enemy stats using 007 mode when I was a teen. Thankfully a friend of the family had unlocked 007 mode with a GameShark, as I was NEVER that leet at first person shooters, which are now a genre I generally despise.

So I finally finished Tales of Graces f yesterday. Best game I've played in ages. I admit the plot wasn't the best, but it was coherent, which is more than I can say for a lot of games these days, especially JRPGs. It didn't try to overdose you with terminology like Tales of the Abyss does. There was Eleth, but Eleth…
I love the Atelier series, but as soon as I got to Rorona, I stopped. I just can't find the time to be able to properly enjoy an RPG where you have to plan your every move on a schedule in order to make sure you don't screw up and get a bad ending, or even just an ending you didn't want.
I...could not enjoy FFXIII's battle system. And while I hear they've fixed some of my main issues with that battle system in XIII-2, such as actually allowing your party leader to die without instantly getting a game over, I still haven't gotten it, and don't think I will be any time soon. There's just too many other…
I used to love turn based combat. I was never the most skilled of gamers, so giving me time to plan my attacks was an important quality to traditional JRPGs.
Good lord I love the battle system. It's probably not exactly new for Japan but it is for the west. Over here in the west we haven't seen such a massive revamp of the battle system since Symphonia, when it made the leap to 3D. Tales of the Abyss only really added Free Run (and the exclusive Field of Fonons mechanic…
Complete and total bull.
As an owner of all 3 current consoles, I can attest to something similar to this. When the 360 or Wii isn't the console I'm currently playing a game on, including right now, they just sit there gathering dust. My PS3 however, is often used for streaming or watching DVDs and Blu-Rays, even when the current game I'm…
There's a reason JRPGs tend to do that: It's an adventure in an exotic land entirely foreign to you. Your destination is NOT always to the town right next door when taking up epic quests. The technology also doesn't usually allow fast travel. It's a long journey, but somebody's gotta do it.
That was pretty much part of what I said in response to another comment. If things continue as they are in the United States, there will cease to be this thing we call 'genre'. And as you said, that is truely terrifying. A survival horror in and of itself for those like me that could never get into shooters.
Exactly. I don't even like the Resident Evil games, but this is just stupid. They're basically saying "fast-paced shooters are the only thing that makes money in America. Let's become a part of the problem."
Indeed! I can hardly tell its a Wii port aside from a few hints here and there in the environments where rounded edges are not so round due to a low polygon count. Most obvious for me was the rounded corners of the fountains in the Strahtan capitol. As far as textures, I haven't noticed anything that was obviously low…
There really isn't a Best Final Fantasy. It's all opinion, so there can only be personal favorites. My favorite TRUE Final Fantasy game is FFVI. But for most fans it'd probably be FFVII.
Pardon my Nostalgia Goggles, but I'd have to say Symphonia.
Let's not forget Vaan from Final Fantasy XII, though I'm sure a lot of us wish we could.
Yet again someone has too strict expectations toward the role of lead protagonist. They're not always supposed to be likeable.
Day one, definitely. Already have it preordered.
About freaking time. And XSEED had to help them before they released a game that is already DONE? That's pretty pathetic. At least they announced it BEFORE I gave up and imported this time, so I only need to buy it once.
