Wow. That's is a cool story to uncover about your family history.

I'd love you read your stuff too.

I've read about Francisco de Loyola (aka Catalina de Erauso), but haven't read that specific title. Thanks for the suggestion! I'll add it to my reading list.

I'll post the names of the books when I get home and can remember the exact titles. I'm reading both of them as background to a piece of historic fiction I'm writing.

I've read a couple of interesting books lately on the subject - one on "Crossdressers" in history written in 1993, and one on "FTM transsexuals" written in 1997. (I'm putting those in quotes because the language used in both books is outdated terminology that we wouldn't think of using in an academic setting today.)

Eh. "Creativity" is no substitute for actually understanding "X" groups lived experience, especially if "X" group faces things that the majority of people never face, or has sensory experience that most people can't understand. I can't begin to catalog the number of things that heterosexual people get wrong when

Thank you for this lovely write-up. I binge-watched the show last weekend and was excited about it - so much was familiar to me, and still new and exciting to see onscreen.

I knew I like girls when I was five. I had a huge crush on Glinda the Good Witch of the North from The Wizard of Oz. She was dreamy.

Watch the Grantland (I know, problematic site) interview with her on YouTube. I think you'll have the same reaction. She's a smart cookie. In person, she's very together.

Oh, that is a thing I had not yet thought to look up! God damn, I love the internet.

Oh, for Pete's sake. If you don't want the kid, I'll take it. I love babies and don't give a damn what their DNA is. If a kid needs a parent, I'll do it.

EXACTLY. No teen girls go running around the locker room nude in my experience, believe me. Everyone is busy trying to get dressed with some modicum of privacy, hiding in towels and behind locker doors, trying hard not to look at anyone else. A teen trans girl is going to be no different than that.

Yeah, ALL pubescent teens end up with hormones, so we do know what the effects are. :)

Yeah, at our house had no word for vagina as kids. But the penis was a "diddle daddle." I can't even say that aloud anymore without laughing my ass off.

I speculate that a lot of the reason some gay & lesbian people have that reaction is still the internalized homophobia they feel, along with the pressure to conform to a heteronormative society. PTSD of a sort makes them judge bi people as "conformers." Not that it excuses it, at all. I do hope that as society

Call me when Julia Sweeney apologizes for the entire "It's Pat" skit and well talk. Until then, SNL is on my shit list, it will take a lot of ass kissing to fix.

I've never had it happen in quite that way. I did date someone totally selfish that I didn't realize was so bad when I until the end, but I was never surprised by something like this. My other exes were just... incompatible, mutually agreed upon. I'm still friends with the incompatible one, and distant acquaintances

1) Good thing this guy is an ex!
2) Why on earth was he ever a "current"? Must have been seriously stealth to get in the door in the first place.

This part:

But would a third breast really be placed right there, though? Folks who have third and fourth nipples tend to have them in the configuration of other mammals - parallel lines.
