Look up the definition of "hetero-normativity." It doesn't mean what you think it does. It means "expecting all people to conform to heterosexuality as the norm." In other words, heterosexuality is the default, and all others are variations. That is not the case.

Hetero-normativity and sexism are uncool. But unsurprising that Coke is marketing this way in China. I foresee problems with that going forward, when global media interaction causes these sorts of retrogressive campaigns get push-back from people in other countries/cultures.

I am glad she took it to Jezebel, though. I've been encouraged/given the hard sell to join cross fit by a number of my fellow rowers, and now that I get a peek into the culture, I'm fairly certain I wouldn't feel comfortable there, and I would proceed with caution and not commit a lot of money at first.

At least part of the reason why gay people feel free to not conform to gender norms is because they already understand they can't conform to sexual orientation norms - you start to seriously question authority and why you can't feel comfortable with your gender identity as well, when you realize you are gay.
