If you read the link that I posted in my post *right above yours* you see that there has been a link between Patriot's Day - they April holiday - and right wing movements. I'm not talking about September 11 - in fact, I had no idea that anyone refers to that as "Patriot Day." I'm not convinced they do.

The dates are one and the same. The Boston Marathon is always held on Patriot's Day. But the Tea Party has co-opted that holiday for their own symbolism as well.

All the reading I've seen says that the Tea Party has 'adopted' the revolutionary war commemoration as their own holiday, attaching their own ideals and zealotry to the date, and attempting to co-opt they holiday for themselves. But they are the same holiday.

Yes, I think you're right, though the Tea Party and militias have since linked the Oklahoma City Bombing and Patriot Day together by 'celebrating' patriot day, according to a couple of news reports on Patriot Days in past.

Yes - the Oklahoma City Bombing occurred on April 19, which is the "traditional" (rather than the observed) date of the holiday. It was widely reported that McVeigh chose that date because of the "Patriot Day" connotations.

My grandmother asked me on her deathbed, no joke, whether my wife and I were going to have babies. I told her we would always look after kids, even if they weren't our own, which is true. But talk about a guilt trip.

I just feel hella irritated that I keep ending up in the grey zone, even though I was a long time commenter on the old system with a decent amount of respect. Took me a long time to build up credibility, but apparently that didn't carry over.
