I’m not sure any of the current Republican candidates should be running for president....

By being a hypocrite?

I don’t think it is. But would the average Republican primary voter think “v-word” was at least preferable? Quite likely.

I don’t care very much what she says, because I think she’s a disgrace and a liar, and a right-wing nut job. She’s not a role model for me or anybody whose opinion I care about.

I doubt she’d say “schlonged,” either. Or penis, or many of the euphemisms for it.

Realistically, she’s probably worried that it won’t sound “presidential,” and that her handful of supporters would think it crude or unladylike. Have the male candidates been throwing around the word penis? (This is an actual request for information, since I have been ignoring the campaign as much as possible.)

Hálditšohkka looks like a Finnish name to me. So it’s really more like oh yeah I guess this is really yours after all. Sorry!

Actually, the phenomenon of baby name entropy will mean that eventually all baby names will be equally common.

Yeah, the only time I have ever seen my own face truly white was when I’d lost a lot of blood. “White-faced” to indicate fear is a literary convention. Okay, a cliché.

Yeah. I have ancestors who did some pretty terrible things. It doesn’t embarrass me; in fact I think it’s pretty interesting!

It did.

“Looking around, there was certainly a diversity of race; and yet no woman could have weighed more than 110 pounds; and everyone was botoxed, tummy-tucked, perfectly fashioned; glossy, pert; with identical makeup; and charming stilettos.”

And how many times have you seen a red-carpet interviewer ask an actor if their character gets murdered? Generally interviewers don’t ask about character deaths at all, because generally actors won’t answer the question, because it’s a spoiler.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out that he was sexually abused (or is still being abused).

Well, illegal abortions really are unsafe, and presumably most abortions depicted in TV and film before about 1970 were illegal, back-alley abortions. Even now, many TV and movie abortions are back-alley abortions in costume dramas. So the high death rate doesn’t surprise me.

Yes. This happens all the time, and we only find out about it when the cops are so spectacularly proven wrong.

What enrages me is not only this specific story, but the fact that this kind of thing happens all the time, and we only hear about it (maybe) if the rapist later attacks someone else, and is caught, and is definitively and uncontrovertibly linked to the “false” report. The odds of that happening are vanishingly small.

I’ve read about this case before. It’s stomach-turning.

Poe’s Law strikes again. I’m pretty sure that most of these are jokes, but some of them I really can’t tell.

Hoo boy, guess what the only defense witness testified?
