Lol I remember when I had to carry both a Blackberry (paid by work) and an iPhone (that I paid for). It was super easy to see which would stick around.
There’s a great podcast on how and why Kodak failed. It wasn’t for lack of innovation, they were actually pioneers in digital film, the execs at the top didn’t like that the new products had a lower profit margin so they kept boosting the products with the higher margin not seeing the end in sight for them.
In 2009 I sat through an uninspiring seminar given by Blackberry’s VP of Marketing for North America. During Q&A, a woman held up her iPhone and asked, “What are you going to do about this?”
“Playbook” is still the best name for a tablet ever...so sad it was wasted on such a pathetic device.
It’s honestly a shame because a physical keyboard just works so much better with smartphones than a virtual one. But, alas. Non-removable batteries and no physical keyboards seems to be the way of all things going forward, unfortunately.
