And for most of existence, women haven’t had the privilege of not showing up. No matter how sick or busy, they couldn’t stop mothering. Women have been working around the clock, rain or snow or plague or shine, for millenia.
...and not a one of those senators who stayed home touched a shovel or vacuum cleaner.
Honestly, I think it’s because as a female you are worried you’ll be judged if you don’t show up. Dudes just take for granted that they can stay home when they are sick, their kid is sick, or it’s dangerous to travel.
Silly me. My husband and I (both hunting and gun-possessing citizens whose weapons were all legally purchased and are securely stored) just watched this and agreed with the vast majority Obama talked about. And I was remarking how I thought Obama did a really good job of reassuring people what these changes DIDN’T…
EXCEPT FOR THESE GUNS!!!
BHO: We need to do something about guns falling into the wrong hands and people getting killed.
Suicide is the precise reason why my parents NEVER owned a gun, and still don’t. My dad has bipolar disorder, and I had two male relatives die by suicide within the last year. We know all too well that a gun would make it easy to end it all on a bad day, so they don’t own one.
I just learned about a fun loophole in gun control rules that explains the increase in man power: in some states, if the background check takes longer than 3 days to complete, the buyer gets the gun regardless of what the ultimate findings are.

Like conservatives, I favor a strict interpretation of the Constitution. My interpretation is SO strict that I like to confine the interpretation to how it would’ve been made at the time of its writing.
And based upon that I am fully in favor of people’s right to bear smooth-bore and rifled single shot muzzle loaders,…
“It’s not about guns it’s about mental health”
To me, the last paragraph exemplifies why this is a good idea. It seems like they’re going out of their way to avoid saying “your immigrant ways are wrong” and instead are saying “there are the rules here. even if these rules don’t apply where you are from, they apply in Norway.”
Haven’t seen a 21 grams reference in a long time, Dr. Jia MacDougal. +1
Well let’s be fair here. The critique is not so much that she was dressed as a slut and that’s unfeminist. The critique is more that when Luke is captured they try to kill him. When Leia is captured she’s sexually exploited. It’s a old trope in Hollywood that male heroes face violence from antagonists, but female…
This endless and deeply tragic week in America has brought us precisely one good thing: a reminder that Craig Mazin…
Carrie wins again.
With the release date for Star Wars: The Force Awakens creeping closer and closer, we are getting a true treat:…
Does anyone else see a human illuminated manuscript?
If Canada doesn't win this category, the judges are fools. I'm sure they are regardless, but Canada must win this.
