Same thing happened to me. I bought what was advertised as a Region Free PAL/NTSC modified player on Amazon. Instead I got a normal Toshiba. Instead of paying to ship back, I tried videohelp.com and I've been happy ever since. But that was a few years ago so maybe now it's more difficult.

If you have a region free player, Mr. Bongo has a pretty good print for sale (and fairly cheap).

I didn't mind it (compared to whatever else was on back then). If you think about it, the character of John Becker seems to be a stylized prototype for House M.D.

The Time-Life Golden Age of Country infomercial seems to be working for me lately.

Hard to believe at one point Calypso almost wiped out Rock n' Roll as the next sure thing in popular music. Imagine where we'd all be now.

I don't know how related this is, but how come there are so many National Geographic magazines ca. 1976-81 in used bookstores, goodwills, etc.? Did they offer very low-cost subscriptions back then, or where people of the 70s just really into National Geographic?

Do they still have those once a year foldouts of all the people in entertainment who died of AIDS? In the mid-nineties, it was horrifying to see all those headshots, mainly because there were so many.
