That is a very, very good point.

The only problem I see with the Google Voice route is that they now have a real number that can be used to contact you. They may not be able to use it from the number you block, but they can call it from any other phone they want. With this service you can just erase the number they have and they have no way to get in

It seems to be the case that the icons are part of the overall "trade dress" of the iPhone and that "trade dress" can be patented. Basically, go read the coverage of htis case on The Verge. They're doing a significantly better job of explaining everything that most any other website I've seen.

Right. The way I understood the article it seemed that the NYPD had originally wanted Twitter to just turn over the information because they asked nicely. When Twitter didn't do that, NYPD got a subpoena and twitter complied. Now that I'm re-reading the article again it seems Twitter may have actually refused to

Twitter (or any other company) shouldn't be disclosing a damn thing without a subpoena/warrant/whatever is necessary from the court to get that information turned over. If the threat is perceived to be immediate there shouldn't be any problem getting a judge to sign something within an hour.

Read the post I linked to. I was referencing the very last line of that post, after all of the points I would've failed miserably to make eloquently were already made.

The number of miles between Earth and Mars is the number of times you need to be told to fuck off for bitching about "wasted money" and not understanding why this is well worth the relatively small investment the government made in this project.

You seem to be making the same argument made by people who say we should stop funding space exploration because there are starving people in the world who need the money more.

The icons are trademarked.

When these Olympics started I thought Phelps was being a giant douche and just didn't really care anymore and was very full of himself. As they've gone on and seen more interviews I'm starting to thing he's just having a damn good time enjoying what he intends to be his last Olympic Games. He's already made history

I trust your opinion and it makes sense but I don't think I can make up my mind until I look into what Alton Brown has to say about this.

Gizmodo or Apple? I'm genuinely curious if you guys would purchase another lost iPhone again.

I agree—if both competitors were judged to be equal at the end of all events, they should both get a medal. Hell, even if they tied for a gold, give them both a medal.

Calling someone in sports a "head case" doesn't not mean that they're mentally unsable. It means they have trouble focusing, have trouble "getting their head in the game" so to speak. It's common sports terminology used to describe competitors that possess the talent and physical ability to perform, but sometimes have

Is it possible to use the BBC iPlayer from the U.S.?

This post is really making me thing of talking to my wife about getting rid of our cats before our son arrives in a few weeks.

I remember being miffed that Project Natal was no longer going to be called Project Natal. I thought that name was awesome. It just took me about 45 seconds to remember the name Project Natal was the code name for Kinect. Most likely Metro will be better remembered since it's been around longer, but the point is we'll

Totally agree about both points. The lose to get Lemieux thing was completely true. Crosby was just dumb luck. Either way, I'll take it.
