They teased us with the GT?

Hey the new Zora might come out in a cadillac variant....so we might finally get the Cien after a decade and a half

Still, could be worse. You could be Cadillac and tease all these amazing cars that they really should make but of course never will.

Trucks are mostly used for short trips?

We’ve probably reached that point, frankly.  Sales have fallen way off when the government stopped throwing stupid money at the story...

“And the big one: Autopilot.”

It’s called research and development....something Tesla isn’t familiar with. You buy a Tesla, you’re basically a beta tester. The Germans are anal-retentive as fuck and will torture test these things until their sadistic pleasure has been fulfilled

You can’t bottle up electricity and carry it to remote areas. The auto companies are still working on hydrogen for the few applications where that is desirable.

Electric Mustang strikes me...

I’m in the “fill the wheel well” crowd. Yeah, it doesn’t get you the best offroad capabilities, but it looks nice.

This truck looks like it will completely overburden that little motor. Look at all that unnecessary beef

The extended cab Ranger will have a 6ft+ bed, so it’ll hold your Suzu.

It is a prototype. Prototypes don’t have to meet production safety standards. Also, as others have pointed out, they aren’t using the F-150s frame, suspension, or drivetrain — only the body.

They’re not using any of the F150's running gear, so the suspension/wheels/tires/brakes is what they’re designing for it.  The body is just a disguise.  Also, the F150 is a truck, it’s designed to carry hundreds of pounds of whatever.

I think they are using the bodies (cabs & beds) with their own chassis.

I checked out the preorder, then saw “starting at $69,000 and “we’re building the most expensive ones first” and just slowly put my credit card back in my wallet.

even still, people know there are no EV trucks. They would be quicker to guess this is a ford test mule than a Rivian

My Dad put a pre-order in (against my advice). He calls it a ‘vote forward’. I asked him about how he’ll get the car and he said he doesn’t care. In a couple of years when he can actually get a car he’ll start to care.

I wonder what the rules are for disclosing something like this, particularly in light of rumors that Ford is pursuing electrification of their F150s.

I wouldn’t be so sure. My grown-ass adult aunt still believes that all yellow cars came from the same manufacturer
