Speaking normally does not cause better language learning in infants. There are several reasons for this, one being that very simple speech is preferable. It is also comforting and creates a sense of security, because it is both non-threatening and clearly directed towards them.

The puppies reacted strongly to the dog-directed speech, responding quickly, gazing more often at the loudspeaker, and moving close to it. As for the normal speech sequences, the puppies practically ignored them.

So, stop doing it when your dog grows up.

Yes - came here to say same thing. I saw the same behavior from both my dogs as they grew. As puppies, they would look at the TV, try to engage with it, bark at it, etc. As adults, they ignore TVs, music playing, etc.

This is what’s important. The baby talk may have worked in person, but any dog who has lived around TV for any period of time, I assume, learns to ignore the voices coming from speakers. Like when I tell my dog to get off the sofa over my WiFi camera and she doesn’t react.
