Ick yea that’s the vibe I got too. The whole statement was weird and back-handed-judgey about her.

Seriously, I work in the tech industry and can’t stand to watch that show because it focuses on the absolute worst parts of my chosen career.
foul blasphemy
one that just appointed a white man as its head of diversity to boot
HBO’s “Silicon Valley” is one of the best documentaries they’ve done in a long time.
“Some people are like, I want to go to Haiti, and I want to go to Thailand, and I want to get orphans, and I want to get prostitutes off the street. I realized that my heart was to help beautiful people. This is my mission.”
Duh, the real criminals here are the parents who dared to look away for a second. I’ve also been told by about a MILLION people on another thread that helicopter parents, not guns, are to blame for the UCLA student who killed their professor, then themselves. Don’t watch your kids close enough? Burn the witch! Watch…
You know, I feel bad for Debra Messing. I’m sure she’s sincere.
Reading those texts makes me sad. If they are actual texts and not faked, they show he was abusive to her for a long time and people were pushing her to stay with him. It sounds like he was either drunk or on drugs when he did abuse her.
I feel for Amber Heard. I'm glad she was able to get out of that relationship and I'm glad she's safe.
“A little lost boy”?!?
It’s not really that hard to understand. Am Mexican and I know more ne a few people in my community that would have been more then “accepting”. It’s this whole “macho” thing where the boy was praised for being such a stud for getting himself an older woman.
Except people who think that way are thinking about it with their adult brain, completely forgetting what it’s like to be a child with a child’s brain and on a child’s developmental path.
I got into a heated argument yesterday about situations like these. I was telling a male acquaintance about an idiot I dated who said if his 15 year old daughter was dating a man in his 30s he’d try to give the guy a chance because he’s “open minded” (that was the last time I saw that dude, obvs). That led male…
It’s baffling to me as well. But in certain ways its a fundamentally natural result of subscribing to the idea that “boys will be boys.” Which, shit like this makes clear to us, victimizes boys, too.
Don’t get me wrong, this woman is disgusting, but what I can’t wrap my head around is the parents accepting their “relationship” which wasn’t a relationship it was sexual abuse.
At least they didn’t make them get married.
YEP.
Thank you. Not “relationship,” either. Predatory behavior and grooming. And fuck that fucking family.
Not “sex.”
