What’s amusing is that 99% of Jeopardy watchers probably would never have even heard about this tweet, and the ones that did would mostly not care.  People drastically overestimate the real-world impact of social media outrage.

Yeah, especially since his tweet in question was obviously skewering the depiction of people who use wheelchairs in media. It’s weird James Gunn got a pass for what was a more vulgar joke (which the bad faith actors who tried to get him cancelled knew). But Ken Jennings, who seems to be squeaky clean other than a

Correction: Ever using Twitter. Period.

Apologies are usually picked apart and treated with further cynicism, rather than accepted.

Genuine question: is there room in that stance for people to grow and make amends, or is he just soiled forever because of that cruelly insensitive joke?

Just. Don’t. Tweet. That’s the main lesson here. There is literally no upside to using Twitter in 2021.

I’d love it if LeVar Burton got another try. He didn’t put in a great performance, but he also wasn’t given any of the perks the frontrunners received (e.g. two weeks of hosting, focus group testing, a trial show before filming, etc.).

That gets him canceled? Jesus. Really? What ever happened to just saying, “Dude, that was a dick comment. Say sorry and don’t say that shit anymore.”

Even the saintliest folks do and say dumb shit sometimes (and I’m sure Trebek was no exception), it’s just that prior to social media most of the dumb shit you said disappeared into the ether immediately.

So, what’s wrong with Burton? Did he tweet about murdering babies or something and we just haven’t seen it yet?

Yeah, the one guy passed away unfortunately.

Incorrect.

Okay, but the point is that road safety and lowering a death toll is probably just a smidge more important than a little bit of inconvenience.

Maybe they used to work at BMW.

There’s entire youtube channels of people tracking these things, so I don’t know why you would say they’re too heavy to be fun dynamically.  They may be heavy, but all the weight is lower than a normal car, so they handle much better than people give them credit for.

It’s already too heavy to be a fun dynamic drive.

Honestly, I saw it next to a bunch of mclarens, ferraris, and lambos and I’m like man this car just fits it well.

Plus, the C8 is just gorgeous (for a GM). The C7 looked like a hot-wheels car targeting my 12 year old son, but the C8 looks right at home parked next to some of the top supercars in the world.

The C8 is indeed a lot of car for the money. The base model is undoubtedly one of the best deals out there (maybe ever?).

Tesla Model 3. Automation features? Eugh. Extra Power? It’s already too heavy to be a fun dynamic drive. Paint colour? Who cares. You’re (alledgedly) saving the planet, you don’t need extras.
